#ClumsyChips: Office Sorcery

Ideally, everyone is obliged to fulfill their assigned responsibilities at the work place. Most people in their line of duty do not normally entertain any form of relationships, everything has to do with work and work only. It is literally the thought of trying to avoid landing in any unfortunate situation. The mentality that keeps rejuvenating in their minds is “After all I came here to work and to avoid trouble.”

There is no doubt about the extent to which the environment at the office could be very frustrating and tensed, especially when there is work overload and everyone is on their toes to get the job done.

However, there are very few people in every organization who make life at the office very comfortable. Their actions are as if they have been blessed with the superpower of easing things up for their colleagues. Out of the blue they can easily make a tensed environment calming. They turn a frustrating scene to a beautiful and fun one.

Regardless of how occupied they are, such persons create time to render some little assistance to others. It is almost as if their ultimate goal is to put smiles on people’s faces.

In my view, I prefer to label them as sorcerers in regard to how they effortlessly make things happen in the office, at least for a good course. It could be fair to say the success of the company rides on their shoulders, because they find the extra motivation for their colleagues to give their maximum effort.

Below are some humbling stories from persons in other institutions who have experienced such heroes display their superpowers.

Jude Ankrah
“I have this teammate by name Charles who usually appears to be very busy. I can say he’s always filled with schedules and I doubt there’s little room for free periods. I can’t have the words to put together to describe him. He literally knows the ins-and-out of the job. Almost everyone comes rushing to him.

We’re just three in the team and he doesn’t just make life very comfortable for his teammates but extends it to other members of the company. Usually, we need certain tools to work with and sometimes we don’t get it sometimes it skips our bosses. However, Charles would always make sure he gets it for each one of us. He sometimes goes the extra mile to get us Waakye just so we don’t have to spend much time away during lunch. We just have to go, eat at the canteen and then come back to continue the agenda for the day. One thing I also love about him is that, he opens up to everyone irrespective of status in the company. He tries to calm us down by encouraging us when we’re struggling and afraid, we would fail a particular task.”

Rebecca Ocquaye
“I currently have a mentor who guides me through the various tasks I have to execute in the office. She is passionate and cares a lot about my personal development. I mean everyone has their own style of leadership, people yell at you, others just don’t care what you do. You just have to make things right to perfection. It is obvious the environment at work can be stressful but with her around, I easily navigate my way through tough tasks. Sometimes mistakes happen, she would cross check and make it her responsibility I correct everything. She makes it her responsibility I adequately understand what needs to be done and what isn’t required.

There are other few guys in other departments who have their own duties to fulfill. Regardless of how bulky their task and demands are, they avail themselves whenever someone needs a little push with theirs. Especially when a customer walks in with a problem, though not ascribed to their role, they quickly halt, stand in for the other and assist the customer with their challenges. They just hate having a frustrating working place, they always want to assist and make others smile.”

I believe you cannot do everything for everyone, but to consistently pull up for others, that is the work of a sorcerer. These guys are not just mere people, they are heroes without capes who need to be appreciated as much as we can.
