Getting air outside Accra

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

A lot of Ghanaians today have gotten used to spending their weekends outside the capital where there are always stressful activities ongoing daily. Even traveling back home after a hard day’s work is super stressful and the traffic jams keep growing heavy.

Prior to this, the regular weekend lifestyle of a Ghanaian in the capital was attending funerals, weddings or some other occasion and one barely had time for themselves.

However today, times have changed to the extent that families, friends and loved ones will rather make time and go outside Accra to get some air and unwind.

What could actually be the cause of this?? What changed? How did people suddenly prefer traveling outside the capital on weekends to breathe?

Accra has always been known to be where the fun and happiness is but things might have taken a little turn because now everyone prefers to go outside Accra for the weekends, be it for a road trip, a weekend away or an activity filled day.

The city which used to be everyone’s favorite place to be has now become choked and filled with lots of people mostly coming in from rural areas just to make a living here. Now, the Ghanaian has become used to and bored of the fun filled places in the capital and seeks new adventures elsewhere.

Families will rather travel to place like Aburi, Ada, Ho, Winneba, Cape Coast, Tamale and other towns to enjoy a peaceful, calm and fun weekend rather than be seen in Accra.

Fortunately they seem to be enjoying it especially the children because they get to go outside town to see other places, get new experiences rather than what they are used to and most importantly have a ton of fun.

Is getting air outside Accra something we should consider looking at as a constant? I would say I would always spend a week out of the capital to breathe than be in it.

I repeat, I honestly don’t mind going outside Accra for fresh air every weekend if I have the means to and I’m sure it is definitely something everyone will consider once they start with it. The air outside the capital is different and everyone can get used to it.
