Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Women-in-Forex, Gifty Annor-Sika Asantewaa, has said mentorship is a critical element of success in life.
According to her, “you cannot write out mentorship in your life. I don’t think you can make it without mentorship.”
In some cases, people through dedication and consistency venture into an unknown enterprise and still make it but she insists mentorship makes this phase and transition less stressful. “You can enter an unknown enterprise and make it but mentorship shortens it.”
Speaking to Rev Erskine, host of Y107.9FM’s ‘Myd Morning Radio Show’ on the YLeaderboard series, Madam Asantewaa explained mentorship gives the mentee the opportunity to leverage on the experiences of the mentor.
“With mentorship you leverage on the experiences of another and make it work for you in the interim. Instead of wasting time, it takes you a short while to do it,” she added.
Madam Asantewaa argued that it not smart for one to want to go through life just for the sake of experience when they can learn from others.
The Cambridge dictionary defines mentorship as the activity of giving a younger or less experienced person help and advice over a period of time, especially at work or school:
