Nigerian international music star, Ayo Balogun widely recognized as Wizkid has chopped off another record on the international stage after he sold out the renowned Maddison Square Garden with the 20,000 capacity hall during his recent concert.
Wizkid goes on to become the first African artiste to officially sell out the Maddison Square Garden in New York thrilling fans to classic wiz music.
Selling out the MSG, New York did not only become the headline of his concert but the Grammy winner took opportunity to express his condolences to engrieve Davido who lost his son some weeks ago.
DJ Tunez played Davido’s 2011 mega hit song “Dami Duro” during Wizkid’s performance, much to the amusement of the fans.
The gesture ignited the crowd, who applauded and danced as appreciation to Wizkid for the act of kindness.
In videos making rounds on the Internet, the DJ said, “Davido we love you, OBO, we love you. I see you Davido. This one is for OBO.”
The gesture is believed to be intended as a show of solidarity for Davido and Chioma following the tragic death of their son Ifeanyi, who drowned and passed away in the family’s swimming pool in October at their home in Lagos State.
A few months ago, Wizkid and Davido sparked reconciliation speculations after engaging in what can be considered the biggest musical feud in Nigeria.
Although the cause of their tense relationship was never revealed, it can be linked to 2011, when they were just starting out in the business.
In the meantime, Davido and his fiancee Chioma Rowland have not yet spoken on the passing of their kid.
However, he has postponed the Are We African Yet (A.W.A.Y.) performance that was planned for November 2022.
The event has been slated for November 2023.
