“For me, any attention that comes to African music, wherever it may be, is a good thing for collectively ourselves. So we need to support,” Dawuni stated.

Having been a vocal advocate for the recognition of African music for many years, Dawuni acknowledged the progress that has been made.

He reflected on the earlier days when the push for African music recognition faced challenges, noting, “When we even started pushing for the recognition of African music, most people didn’t know, and now we are seeing it really bear fruits. I’m really happy.”

Dawuni’s optimism and dedication to the cause echo the sentiments of many artists and industry professionals who see the growing visibility of African music as a positive step towards a more inclusive and diverse music landscape.

Many musicians and industry professionals share Dawuni’s optimism and commitment to the cause, viewing the increased recognition of African music as a step in the right direction towards a more varied and inclusive music scene.
