Alliance Française Accra, in partnership with Amnesty International and The French Embassy, organised a spectacular cocktail party on March 8, 2024, to honour women on International Women’s Day.
Observed globally, this year’s IWD held under the theme “Invest in Women; Accelerate Progress” sought to promote women in society.
Dubbed “Intimate Conversation with Prof. Georgina Yaa Oduro and Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah”, the event aimed to empower and amplify the voices of women.
Prof. Oduro from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at UCC, and Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah, acclaimed author of the thought-provoking book ‘The Sex Lives of African Women’, led engaging discussions.
The event was moderated by Dr. Theresa Ennin and Dr. Rita Nketiah, with stunning spoken word performances by Ehalakasa artists Afi and She Northerner.
The venue came to life with soul-stirring performances by the incredibly talented Ria Boss and the high-energy Senkulive musical band.
His Excellency Jules-Armand Aniambossou, the French Ambassador to Ghana, graced the occasion as the special guest. In his address, he emphasized the indispensable role women play in propelling societal, economic, and political advancement globally.
Madam Helene Geneau-Okutue, the Director of Alliance Française d’Accra, urged women to embrace their power in all spheres of life and to spread love wherever they go.
