Jamaican dancehall artiste Grace Latoya Hamilton, popularly known as Spice, brought smiles to the faces of pupils at the La Anglican Basic School in Accra during a memorable visit on Friday, November 22.
The Queen of Dancehall partnered with MYO Global – a fond donor to the school which has taken the duty of providing sanitary pads and other personal care items since January 2024.
The pupils warmly welcomed Spice with cheers and excitement as trucks loaded with goodies arrived at the school premises. The donation included classroom supplies, snacks, uniforms, shoes, and personal care items, which were joyfully received by the school administration.
Spice believes that these essential items will improve the well-being and learning experience of the over 500 pupils at the school.
The dancehall megastar, sharing her motivation during an interview with yfmghana.com, expressed her passion for giving children opportunities she never had growing up. “This is something close to my heart because growing up I never had these things at my disposal. So I am doing this because I just want to give back to society.” she said.
Headmistress Sarah Matey expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the school. “We are very grateful to Spice and MYO Global for this timely donation. Many of our students were in dire need of these uniforms and shoes. Spice has truly catered for all of them, and we couldn’t be happier.”
The day ended with much elation and gratitude to Spice and MYO Global for establishing a renewed sense of hope for the children and enhancing their learning experience.
