Dr. Timothy Karikari urges youth to own the future through creative arts and media

Dr. Timothy Karikari

The 2025 Youth in Business Summit opened today with a keynote address from Dr. Timothy Karikari, who challenged young people to seize emerging opportunities in the creative arts and media industries.
Speaking on “The Future of Youth Entrepreneurship in Creative Arts and Media,”  Dr. Karikari emphasized that the creative economy remains one of the most vibrant and untapped avenues for young entrepreneurs. He pointed to digital platforms, content creation, cultural exports, fashion and design, gaming, animation, and media entrepreneurship as areas brimming with potential.
But he also noted that many young people struggle to move forward because of what he described as the “4Cs”; comfort, connection, capacity, and capital.

“Many times, the youth remain in their comfort zones, or they hold back because they feel they lack the right connections, capital, or even the capacity to start,”  he remarked.
As a remedy, Dr. Karikari proposed the “4Rs” Rigour, Research, Relationships, and Resources. He urged participants to pursue knowledge relentlessly, build meaningful networks, and make the most of available resources to transform their ideas into thriving ventures.
“There are lots of opportunities available. The only difference is whether you are willing to step forward, read, research, and grab them,” he stressed.
In his parting words, Dr. Karikari reminded the audience to dare to try stating, “If you don’t try at all, you will lose and lose again. The best way to predict the future is to create it. Consume, create, and own the space you find yourself in.”
