Accra Technical University (ATU) is set to burst with colour, energy and excitement as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) rolls out activities for the much-anticipated Akwaaba Week Celebration, a week-long event designed to welcome students, strengthen unity, and promote campus culture.
The celebration kicks off on Friday, 6th February, with a 4:00 pm activation, officially setting the tone for a vibrant week ahead.
Activities intensify on Saturday, 7th February, with a refreshing Duku Health Walk at 6:00 am, encouraging students to embrace wellness and healthy living. The day continues with a Live Campus Show with YFM at 12:00 pm, bringing entertainment, music, and media engagement directly to the university community.

On Monday, 9th February, students will take part in a Clean-Up Exercise at 8:00 am, reinforcing environmental responsibility. This will be followed by the official launch of Akwaaba Week at 12:00 pm, and later in the day, a thrilling Football Tournament at 3:00 pm, fostering teamwork and friendly competition.
The excitement continues on Tuesday, 10th February, with an educational Seminar at 9:00 am, a fun-filled Cooking Competition at 2:00 pm, and a competitive FIFA Tournament, also at 2:00 pm, blending intellect, creativity, and gaming culture.
Midweek celebrations peak on Wednesday, 11th February, with “The Link Up” Jams at 5:00 pm, powered by DJ Wallpaper, promising music, networking, and unforgettable vibes.
On Thursday, 12th February, elegance and confidence take center stage as students compete in the Mr. & Miss Akwaaba Pageant at 5:00 pm, showcasing talent, intelligence, and cultural pride.
The week climaxes on Friday, 13th February, with a grand Artist Night at 6:00 pm, bringing star power and electrifying performances to crown the celebration.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the SRC President, H.E. Appiah Boateng Meshack, emphasized the purpose behind the celebration: “Akwaaba Week is about bringing students together as one family. It is a platform to welcome freshers, celebrate our diversity, promote unity, and create lasting memories that define the ATU student experience. Beyond entertainment, it is also about responsibility, wellness, and leadership.”
Akwaaba Week stands as a reflection of Accra Technical University’s vibrant student culture, blending education, entertainment, and community service while reinforcing a strong sense of belonging among students.
