Get your sneakers laced and your appetite ready! Y 97.9 FM, the official frequency for the “Yearn for More” generation, has announced the return of its highly anticipated fitness and food fusion event: Afrobeat Aerobics & Kenkey Party.
Scheduled for Easter Monday, 6th April, the event will take over The Takoradi Mall Car Park starting at 6:00 AM.
This unique event promises a high-octane morning where fitness meets culture. Participants will be treated to a grueling yet exhilarating aerobics session set to the rhythmic pulses of the latest Afrobeat hits, ensuring that burning calories feels more like a dance party than a workout.

Speaking on the vision behind the event, Chelsy Sey, Programs Manager for YFM Takoradi, emphasized the importance of community health and cultural appreciation. “At YFM, we believe in a holistic lifestyle. We want our listeners to stay fit, but we also want them to enjoy the rich flavors of our heritage,” Chelsy Sey noted.
“The Afrobeat Aerobics & Kenkey Party is our way of bringing the ‘Oil City’ together during the Easter festivities to sweat it out and then bond over a hot plate of authentic Ga Kenkey, fried fish, and spicy pepper.”
The aerobic session will be guided by professional fitness instructors to the best Afrobeat tracks with live DJ sets from the YFM Takoradi dream team. The event will also create the chance for listners to meet their favorite radio personalities and fellow listeners in an outdoor setting.
The event is open to fitness enthusiasts, foodies, and families looking to wrap up their Easter celebrations on a high note. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early in their best gym gear to secure a spot at the forefront of the aerobics session.
