Ghanaian rapper and lyricist M.anifest has weighed in on the ongoing debate across Ghana’s social media over who should be crowned Artiste of the Year at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
The award scheme has nominated Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Medikal, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton for the coveted category, sparking widespread speculation over who will take home the top honour. The ceremony is set to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 10, 2026.
Amid the ongoing conversations and campaigns by artistes and their fanbases, M.anifest, in a recent post on X, suggested that the choice of winner is clear. “It is painfully obvious who should artiste of the year,” he stated, hinting that one of the nominees has had an outstanding year and deserves the recognition.
However, he added that Ghanaians often overlook merit, making it difficult for the truth to be accepted. “But mo mpɛ nokware baako sei,” he said, implying that many are unwilling to acknowledge what is evident.
So far, Wendy Shay and Medikal have been vocal about their chances, making strong cases for why they deserve the award, while the rest of the nominees await the final verdict.
