Chief Executive Officer of GhanaWeb, David Antwi, has called on property seekers to conduct thorough checks before purchasing or renting properties, particularly in the wake of recent flooding incidents that exposed vulnerabilities within parts of Ghana’s housing sector.
Speaking at the launch of the GhanaWeb Real Estate platform, Mr. Antwi noted that the recent floods highlighted the importance of understanding the location and environmental risks associated with properties before making housing decisions.
According to him, GhanaWeb is exploring ways of collaborating with relevant institutions and regulatory agencies to improve transparency and provide users with accurate information about listed properties.
“When it comes to checks and balances, the recent floods exposed a critical part of our nation’s economy. We can liaise with the respective agencies to ensure that properties listed are not in flood-prone areas,“ he stated.
Mr. Antwi, however, emphasized that while the platform is committed to enhancing accountability within the real estate sector, individuals also have a responsibility to verify information independently before making any commitments.
“We also encourage the general public to do their checks before purchasing any property,“ he added.
The GhanaWeb Real Estate platform was launched to connect property seekers with housing and investment opportunities while promoting greater accessibility and transparency within Ghana’s real estate market.
