Volunteering Development Officer, France Volomtaires Ghana, Fofogan Doku has highlighted the strong relationships and connections many Francophone people build while living in Ghana.
Doku in an interview with Rev Erskine on Episode 3 of FrancoVybz, noted that Ghana’s hospitality and warmth gives visitors the room to socialize with others and immerse themselves into the Ghanaian culture experience. “I have hosted a lot of Francophones here in Ghana and the first time they arrive either from the Airport, the warm welcome and the environment made them just fall in love with the Ghanaian people.”
He explained that beyond work or other reasons for coming to Ghana, the relationships people establish with others and their experiences within the country can influence their decision to stay.
These bonds, according to the Francophone, can become so strong that leaving Ghana becomes difficult for some Francophone residents. “For some of them to leave, it becomes difficult because of the bonds they’ve been able to create with the people they met, the people they worked with and so on.”
Doku’s comments shed light on the growing connections between Ghana and Francophone communities, particularly through everyday interactions and shared experiences.
The conversation formed part of the third episode of FrancoVybz, hosted by award-winning broadcaster Rev Erskine. The podcast seeks to examine the cultural, creative and professional connections between Ghana and the Francophone world, while creating a platform for discovery and exchange among young audiences.
