A 42-year-old man has been arrested by the Legon Police after he allegedly stabbed a female student of the University of Ghana several times in the neck Friday evening.
The man identified only as Musah is reported to be the boyfriend of the victim, Zara, who is a Diploma in Adult Education student of the University.
An eyewitness told Starr News that Musah who had been trying in vain to reach Zara on phone decided to go to her room at Akuafo Hall but was stopped by the victim from entering the room.
But he insisted and was reluctantly allowed in. Musah got incensed when he discovered another man in the room.
Suspicious that the man was Zara’s lover, Musah confronted him and an altercation ensued.
Zara reportedly sided with the other man and this enraged Musah. He rushed out of the room and returned minutes later with a broken glass and stabbed Zara several times in the neck.
Some students rushed to rescue Zara and arrested Musah who tried to escape after realizing that Zara had become unconscious.
Zara has since been rushed to the University of Ghana Hospital while Musah has been handed over to the Legon Police.
Reports indicate that Musah and Zara were planning to get married after the Ramadan.
