50 Cent on Jay-Z's '4:44': 'You Can't Be the Best Rapper at 47…'

Jay-Z’s 4:44 was destined for greatness ever since its release on Friday (June 30), already nabbing platinum status in under a week as a Tidal exclusive and being praised with glowing reviews from the rest of hip-hop.
But social media’s self-proclaimed critic and Jay’s fellow New York hip-hop native 50 Cent, on the other hand, believes that the Roc Nation leader’s clock has run out and his rap run is over at 47 years old.
In a video posted to his Instagram, Fif shared his review of 4:44 from the front seat of his whip. While he admits that he enjoyed the album, he felt it was “too smart” and aged far too ahead of the current state of hip-hop.
“I’m gonna keep it 100,” he said in the video. “The s**t was a little — the s**t was too smart. I felt like I was supposed to be wearing like glasses and s**t and tie like a f**king sweater around my waist. It was like Ivy League s**t. Now, I’m gonna tell you the truth: n****s is high out here, so they don’t wanna hear that. They just want to have a good time. You know what I’m saying? And f**k that, you can’t be the best rapper at 47.”
Fif continued to explain that the rise of the younger hip-hop generation, take Migos for example, is dominating hip-hop for this era. The “new n****s,” as he put it, are up next and rappers like Jay have to scoot over for them to excel in their respective rap lanes. He even shouted out Future, a name emerging in the 4:44 controversy by way of some touchy lyrics.
“N****s f**king with Future and them. Leave them n****s alone, B!” he continued. “What the f**k is the matter with you? I ain’t gonna hold you up, son, that s**t was like golf course music.”
