Vodafone Ghana has emerged CSR Telecom company of the Year at the just ended Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Awards held in Accra. The company also took the best CSR award for Health at the same event.
Vodafone’s latest recognition comes on the back of numerous pioneering initiatives it has introduced in the country over the years including the flagship Healthline TV programme, Instant Schools and Vodafone scholars.
It is also the second consecutive time the company has won the best CSR award for Health, which recognises efforts made in the rollout of sustainable health initiatives including Healthline, Healthfest, Healthline Call Centre and Homecoming.
Commenting on the awards, Ebenezer Amankwah, Corporate Relations Manager at Vodafone Ghana said:
“At Vodafone, we believe technology can be used to drive social good and this is part of our ethos in all the markets where we operate. Our approach to CSR is unique and this is what distinguishes us from the rest. We still believe there’s a lot that can be done and we will continue to champion sustainable initiatives that will complement government’s efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs).”
Organised by the Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, West Africa, the platform rewards organisations and companies committed to sustainability. It also seeks to give recognition to organisations that have implemented initiatives to promote social change in the country.
