Selewa Market Goes Cashless again

February 23, 2018
in News

Ghana’s leading premier pop up market “Selewa Market” has announced the 3rd and 4th March as dates for its first 2018 event; the Selewa Pre-Independence Sales. Announcing the date for the March edition of the much-patronized event, Mr. Gideon Kodo who is the Head of media relations for Melon Concept, organizers of the programme stated, “we are once again creating a cashless platform for all transactions during the event. This decision is stemming largely from level interest and participation recorded from patrons and clients during the Xmas edition of the event, we are encouraging shoppers to opt for all available cashless payment platform and be rewarded with shopping vouchers and discount on their purchases.”
He further stated the initiative is in line with the national agenda by government to graduate the country’s economy into a cashless one.
The Selewa Pop-Up Market over the past 3 years has provided an avenue for businesses both SMEs and corporate to converge at one venue to sell and promote their products and services to a shopping audience. The Pre-Independence sales will feature over 60 selected vendors stocking traditional and contemporary fashion, beauty and home furnishing products at highly discounted prices. As an African-styled market most of the goods on display at Selewa market are handmade local products such as traditional clothing, bags, beads, footwear, natural skin and hair products, African-themed paintings and sculpture pieces among others
This years, Pre-Independence sales, will be two days of discount shopping, cultural display and networking in a fun-filled environment. Shoppers will be treated to special Kizomba session on day two of the market where both shoppers and vendors will have an opportunity to practice the lovely and relaxing Kizomba dance from Angola. A secure kids’ play area will also be available to keep the kids entertained.
The event which comes off at the Golden Tulip in Accra is opened free of charge to the general public at 10am daily. It is being organized in partnership with Tailored Solutions Microfinance, MTN GH, Ecobank and the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems.
