2017, the year under review for the forthcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was undoubtedly a great year for Kula as far as Music is concerned. We saw him shake up the internet and the world of DJs when he released GoDJ early last year. Shooting up to every DJ’s playlist with jet speed, Kula’s song was made the Official Song for the RUSH Ghana DJ Awards 2017. Impressive.
His innovative Music Video for “Don’t Blow It” was first of its’ kind. A video concept that was late arguably copied by Lynx Entertainment’s MzVee for her “Say My Name” music video. Well
Kula once again got the whole internet buzzing when he hit the streets to sell his music, visiting 4 Regional Capitals and embarking on a Pub Tour, selling close to 1,000 copies of his CDs within 4 Months.
This Unsigned Artiste went on to perform on major platforms throughout the year, including but not limited to Ghana DJ Awards, Samsung Galaxy S8 Launch, Social Media Week, Pen & Paper Concert, EdemFest in Keta, Samsung Galaxy Note8 Launch, an iconic performance at EL’s BAR Concert, had the most talked about performance at ChaleWote Street Arts Festival last year, etc.
With a strong, year-round social media presence, Kula is literally an inspiration to both upcoming and mainstream artistes. He was listed in KuulPeeps’ #Emergers2017, has bagged 6 Nominations in the forthcoming Volta Music Awards, and is now a hiphop radio show host on Yfm promoting fellow upcoming rappers on his show.
If this isn’t an Unsung Hero, deserving of a VGMA Unsung nomination, who else is?
