Reports making rounds yesterday indicated R Kelly and Teddy Riley wanted to make records with Stonebwoy but Zylofon Music’s A&R, Willie Roi blocked the opportunity.
Talking about the development, outspoken Dancehall act Mr. Logic revealed;
“Willie Roi got a text message from the US. It was from Teddy Riley and R Kelly. They wanted a collaboration with Stonebwoy and Willie said he won’t pass it on to Stonebwoy because he is stubborn.
“I told him[Willie] it doesn’t make sense holding the information from him and so I texted Stonebwoy who was in Jamaica at the time and told him what was happening but I did not mention the artists involved.”
But Reacting to the earlier report, Willie Roi explaining why he kept the information from the Stonegod disclosed;
“You don’t talk to your artist till the deals are set. As an A&R you push your artist repertoire [with the hope of landing collaborations]. We are dealing with producers and engineers who work on the Grammys.
When the producers and engineers come, they are not just interested in making a single but also producing. It’s not just a single collaboration, they are supposed to do a whole album.
Asked if he Willie would have kept the same information from Shatta, Roi explained;
“No, they chose Stonebwoy. The thing is not ready so what would I tell him [Stonebwoy]. I don’t tell artists what’s happening before it’s confirmed.”
