As ‘One Dance’ reaches the top of the chart, Drake ranks in fourth place for the most No. 1s ever.
Drake made history this week (dated May 21) by breaking the Billboard Hot 100 record for most concurrently charting songs, posting a total of 20 tracks on the list — including 16 debuts from his Billboard 200 crowning set, Views.
As previously reported, the album earns Drake his career best-selling week, moving 851,000 copies in the week ending May 5 (while 1.04 million equivalent units contribute to his Billboard 200 bow).
He also makes historic strides on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, earning his 16th career No. 1, upping him into a solo share for fourth place among acts with the most No. 1s. Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder are tied for most No. 1s with 20 each, while James Brown is in third place with 17 (the climb breaks Drake out of a tie with Janet Jackson and The Temptations, each with 15 No. 1s).
Aside from his chart-capping climb, Drake also has 20 songs on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, with all but two tracks from Views making it onto the ranking; “Summers Over Interlude” and his prior No. 1 hit, “Hotline Bling,” which dropped from the chart in April after a 33-week run. The 18 album tracks join Rihanna’s “Work,” on which the rapper is featured, and non-album track “Summer Sixteen.”
