The long anticipated “CULTURE TRIP” segment is back and this week, THE DRYVE with Joel Orleans and Dj MicSmith, is headed to the THE ROYAL NETHERLANDS.
Joining Joel in studio yesterday was none other than the Ghanaian-Dutch rapper, AKWASI, who graced the YFM studios, arriving from the Netherlands.
Akwasi, who is born and raised in Amsterdam, North Holland, and a member of the Dutch Hiphop crew Zwart Licht, is set to perform at this year’s edition of the Holland-Ghana Fusion Festival – FUSE IT.
Akwasi is a multi-talented Dutch artist of Ghanaian descent, known in the Netherlands for his music, TV shows, and his recently published poetry book. A true ‘fusion’ of Ghana and the Netherlands himself.
Playing a game of Either-Or with Joel, Akwasi prefers Ghanaian music – specifically Highlife Music, to Dutch music, will have the Ghanaian dish “Etor” any day of the week over Dutch food, and prefers the warm tropical weather of Ghana to the chills of the Netherlands.
Asked which he preferred between Ghanaian women and Dutch women, the rapper broke into hysterical laughter then seized the opportunity to acknowledge the beautiful Ghanaian women in his family.
Akwasi performs alongside Ghana’s Stonebwoy this Saturday at the Royal Netherlands Embassy, at this year’s Orange Week, organized by the Dutch Embassy in honor of the celebration of Kingsday 2019.
Culture Trip continues on The Dryve this week, from 3pm through to 7pm with your pilot and co-pilot Joel Orleans and DJ Mic Smith.
