Jose Mourinho Has Told Friends He'd Take A Job At Newcastle United

Jose Mourinho has reportedly told friends that he’d ‘seriously consider’ taking the managers job at Newcastle United if they are taken over by Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan.
As reported in The Mirror, Sheikh Khaled has his own candidates to become Newcastle boss should his takeover bid prove to be successful.

Current Magpies boss Rafa Benitez’s deal expires this month and the Spaniard is yet to commit his future to the club.

According to The Mirror, Mourinho is aware of the Premier League side’s interest in him has told friends that he would ‘seriously consider’ taking the Newcastle job if it became available.
Despite the Shiekh insisting his interest in Newcastle is genuine, current owner Mike Ashley has claimed he is yet to see proof of potential takeover funds.
Although the move may seem a step down from his jobs at the top level, the 56-year-old would have a connection with the St James’ Park faithful.

Mourinho has an affinity for the Geordies, with much of his early career being spent alongside Toon icon Bobby Robson in the 1990’s at multiple clubs.
Robson would often tell Mourinho stories of his hometown club, who then went on to manage them later on in his career.
Mourinho said last summer: “I like to go there. I like the feeling of going to Mr Robson’s home. I like that feeling. I like the stadium. I like the atmosphere. They are a good, enthusiastic crowd. I like the Geordies.”
According to The Mirror, the former Chelsea boss would be ‘open to the challenge of managing a club that wasn’t among the elite’ but still had potential to challenge for trophies, which he sees in Newcastle.
Mourinho back in March said that he would only return to club football to manage a club with a clear structure, insisting he had already turned down three or four job offers.
Speaking to beIN Sports France per Football Italia, he explained, “I know exactly what I don’t want, which is why I have already turned down three or four offers.”
I also know what I do want. I don’t mean the name of the club, but the type of work, the style of club. I know what I want and I hope to get it.”
Should Mourinho join Newcastle backed with the rumoured investment, Newcastle could find themselves entering a golden era with ‘The Special One’ at the helm.
Although, it would seem rather cruel on Benitez, who has kept Newcastle in the Premier League on a small budget over the last two seasons.
