Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in line for a shock transfer to Everton should Carlo Ancelotti become manager.
Zlatan has been a free agent since leaving LA Galaxy and he’s apparently in advanced talks with the Merseyside outfit according to Tancredi Palermi.
Ibrahimovic has been linked with a slew of clubs including former side AC Milan.
The duo would be reuniting following a year together at Paris Saint-Germain which proved to be fruitful.
Zlatan scored 35 goals in the 12/13 season as PSG went on to win Ligue 1 for the first time in 19 years.
Ancelotti had joked about signing Ibrahimovic for previous club Napoli after his departure from the MLS.
‘I’ll call him tonight and say we’re waiting!’ Ancelotti joked after Napoli’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona in October.
‘I have a great deal of affection for him, I saw he scored 29 goals in 30 MLS games. Tomorrow, after I’ve called him, I’ll let you know how it went!’
Everton fans on Twitter are getting very excited about the possible transfer.
Before Everton fans get too giddy, it’s worth remembering Ancelotti it not officially in charge yet.
Furthermore, the club issued a statement on Monday night stating no deal had been finalised yet.
It read: ‘In the 11 days since Marco Silva left the club, the Everton board has been working to recruit a new permanent manager – and has held meetings with a number of candidates.
‘We can confirm that thus far no contract offer has been made and no candidate has chosen to withdraw from the process.’
It’d be an unreal signing that we’d all love to see.
The 38-year-old was a revelation during his Manchester United stint and he’d likely have the same impact at Goodison Park.
