Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is set for a move away from the club and has been offered to AC Milan by his new agent, according to reports in Italy.
Lingard changed agents to link up with Mino Raiola, who doesn’t have the best relationship with United, seemingly in a bid to get himself a move out of Old Trafford.
According to Italian outlet Sport Italia, the Englishman has been offered to Serie A side Milan, who have strong links with Raiola.
The 27-year-old has started just nine league games for United this season and has come under increased scrutiny for his poor performances, from fans and his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United’s 2-0 win against Burnley on December 28th confirmed that the former Leicester City loanee went the entire 2019 without a goal or assist in the league, an extremely poor return for an attacking player in any team.
The switch to Raiola seems like a clear sign that his time at Old Trafford is up, considering the Dutch agents reputation in and outside of Old Trafford.
As well as Lingard, the 52-year-old also represents former United players Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku, whilst Paul Pogba is also one of his clients.
Speaking as Pogba’s agent, Raiola recently criticised the club and their lack of support for the French midfielder, and revealed last summer the former Juventus midfielder wanted to leave the club.
United were recently interested in another Raiola client Erling Haaland but didn’t want to pay the fees to the agent or agree to the release clause, leading the striker to choose a move to Borussia Dortmund instead.
A move to Italy would see Lingard follow Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling from Manchester to Serie A in the past few months.
The Rossoneri have fallen further down the table than United and the former European giants are now in 12th in the league and need a serious boost.
They recently re-signed Ibrahimovic, after the Swede’s stint in the MLS came to an end, and could soon add Lingard to their squad.
After 20 years as boy and man at United it seems Lingard’s days are numbered.
