Ghanaian boxing icon, Azumah Nelson, observing the plight of boxing enthusiasts among the youth in Ghana, has revealed plans that he has made to help support these children once Covid-19 has been dealt with.
He said during an interview with Rev. Erskine on YLeaderboard Series that he has noticed how a lot of young boys are interested in boxing but it is difficult for them to be consistent in trainings because of financial problems.
According to him, boxing is just like a full-time job and it needs dedication, hence, these boys will need someone to help them with the provision of food so that they can stay healthy and train consistently.
Detailing on how he plans to lend a helping hand in making this possible, the boxing legend said, “After the Coronavirus, we are planning to go on a tour to pick the talented boys and bring them to Accra. We will camp them, take them to school and after school, they come to train”.
Azumah Nelson added that if this is successful, we will have a lot of boxing champions coming from Ghana, as a lot of these boys are very talented at the sport.
