“I’m living what I envisioned” – Rev Erskine reflects on journey in media industry

Renowned media personality Erskine Amo Whyte, popularly known as Rev Erskine, says his success in Ghana’s media landscape is the result of a long-held passion and a clear vision nurtured since childhood. Speaking on Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Evening Drive with Akua Sika, the YFM Programmes Manager shared that his pursuit of a career in media was not accidental but intentional. “I had planned for this. I wouldn’t say it just happened ‘along the line.’ No, it was something I dreamt of, I planned it, I wanted it. Where you see me now is exactly where I envisioned myself,” he revealed. Rev Erskine explained that his interest in radio was shaped by his upbringing in a family deeply involved in media. He credited his grandmother, Ohemaa Maubyn, and his uncle, Dr. Who, for inspiring his early love for the industry. “Since I was 11 years old, I’ve been listening to radio. I enjoyed the craft and had favorite media personalities. I believe that’s where my passion began,” he added. Now at the helm of Ghana’s leading urban radio station, Erskine emphasized that achieving his dreams was not just about passion but also about discipline and determination. “It wasn’t just a dream I had while sleeping. I could picture it, I worked toward it, and I committed to it.” he said.

Ningo-Prampram Health Director endorses Lions Club Eye Clinic Project as a lifesaving initiative for underserved communities

Ningo-Prampram Health Director endorses Lions Club Eye Clinic Project as a life-saving initiative for underserved communitie Municipal Health Director of Ghana Health Service for Ningo-Prampram, Mrs. Patience Ami Mamattah, has shared optimistic views on the significance of the Tema Community 25 Lion Club flagship project – a state of the art eye clinic at the Prampram Polyclinic. Speaking to yfmghana.com’s Kobina Baidoo, she indicated that the club has been sharp-eyed in constructing the facility. She explained that the facility will be of benefit to many people beyond the Prampram municipality. “Most people who are not very familiar with the geography of the municipality think that Ningo-Prampram is all about Prampram but its beyond that. It extends all the way to the Eastern end, Volta Region and beyond. And geographical access to health care is a challenge let alone asking them to go beyond Prampram for care. It will be extremely challenging for them.” According to the health expert, the club, through this project has significantly reduced the distance and the potential costs that will go into making journeys to health care facilities in the capital. “Having this Lions Club Eye project at Prampram Polyclinic is providing and bringing healthcare delivery to the doorsteps of the people of Ningo-Prampram and that of course will improve access geographically and also financially,” She also noted that the project will stir up high levelsl of motivation within specialists and healthcare service providers as equipment and necessary tools are made available to cater for all patients that come to the facility. “As healthcare providers, we are motivated when we have the right infrastructure and equipment to work with and the Lions Club project is going to help us with that.” she intimated. Construction of the Eye Clinic is currently underway and, as of June 27th, funds have been successfully raised to cover the roofing costs. With significant progress made by the club, the project is expected to be completed soon, marking a major milestone in the club’s service efforts. By: Kobina Baidoo

District Governor Lion Dr. Helena Asamoah Hassan PMFJ has applauded the newly installed Tema Community 25 Lions Club board of club officers for a progressive start into the 2025/2026 service year. Speaking exclusively with happyghana.com, shortly after the installation ceremony, the District Governor indicated that the new board of the club have started their tenure on an impressive note – in wake of the near completion of their flagship project, a state of the art eye clinic at the Prampram Polyclinic. Furnished with experience as a club President for the 2000/2001 service year, she believed that the club is set to accomplish greater feats within the incoming service year. “I’m really excited because the way they have gone, is the way we went.” she said. “I believe that they are on a good cause that is a club, a very strong club and they know what they are out to do. This will not be the end. I believe that this current board are doing well and they will go places.” Lion Dr. Helena Asamoah Hassan PMFJ added. The newly installed Tema Community 25 Lions Club board of club officers led by LLion Dr. Ralph Nii Okai Tettey-Amlalo as president are set to serve within the service year which spans from June 2025 to July 2026. Wode Maya calls for state’s support of Buzstop Boys

Ghanaian socialite and travel enthusiast, Wode Maya has urged the government of Ghana to support sanitation policing collective, Buzstop Boys The globally recognized YouTuber speaking to yfmghana.com’s Kobina Baidoo explained that the group’s commitment to ridding Ghana’s streets of waste through clean up exercises and periodic sensitization needs an amplification which can be made possible through government’s investment. “Buzstop Boys are showing that Ghanaians are ready to work, it’s just that we need to have a good system to support the people.” he said. He further noted that the the collective’s voluntary commitment with a substantial amount of funds from government will make their work quicker, less tedious and more efficient. “It’s about time they empowered the Buzstop Boys because what they are doing is more like charity but I believe if the government of the day feels like if we empower them, they are going to do bigger things, why don’t you do it?” he stated.

Popular Jamaican musician, Barbee, has touted the exceptional quality of her music as a major factor in her rise to fame during the early days of her career. The songwriter, in an interview on Y107.9FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe with host Reggie Reg, reminisced about the start of her journey, which took off with hits like Missing You and Paddy Cake. She also spoke about working with globally recognized Jamaican music industry players like Junior Kelly and Beenie Man. She disclosed that she seized the opportunity to grow in the industry through frequent visits to the popular Big Yard Studios, owned by Jamaican-American musician Shaggy, in Jamaica.
