Nigerian afrobeat singer, Adedamola Adefolahan popularly known as Fireboy DML, has spoken on his nomination for the Best Male Artiste category at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAS 2021).
The fast-blown YBNL signee told host, Naa Dzama on the Myd-Morning Radio Show during a phone interview that being nominated in the Best Male Artiste category to him, came as a great honor because it shows how much he is recognized regardless of how young he is in the industry.
“This nomination is important to me based on the fact that this is one more step in getting to that place that I’m looking to take my brand and my artistry, and it’s a very big step and an encouragement for me that I’m doing something right so I just need to keep going harder”, he said.
The ‘jealous’ hitmaker added that, “It just proves that the culture is moving and we’re doing everything right. We’re not overlooking based on status and how long you’ve been in the industry. It’s strictly by merit and it’s a good thing to show that the culture is moving forward.
Fireboy also congratulated his co-nominees for contributing to African music’s evolvement and expressed that he is very humbled by this achievement. He encouraged fans and listeners to vote for him to win the Best Male Artiste at the MTV MAMAs via the website www.mtvmamas.com.
