Former Member of Parliament of Subin Constituency in the Ashanti region and Former CEO of Ghana Cocoa Board Hon. Isaac Osei has asserted that doing politics should make one submissive.
The renowned Economist agrees that everything works with time and this also applies to politics.
In an interview with, Rev Erskine on Y 107.9 FM’s Y Leaderboard Series he stated, “If you have a position, that position is of a transient nature you should always remember that”.
Citing the current President of Ghana as an example he said, “Even the President of the republic does not have permanent tenure, his time will come and he will go. Kufuor came and went, Mahama also came and went. Akufo Addo even though he won by a huge majority this time around’s time will come and he will also go”.
The former member of Parliament believes that being in politics is a big responsibility and an opportunity to serve and this should automatically make you humble.
He also added that “Personally, I see it as a job of service and I have never been enamoured with the happenings of service. I mean you have a car, a policeman and that sort of thing it all doesn’t appeal to me”.
For Hon Isaac Osei, “what is important to me is what you add on and the impact your service has on the people you’re serving”.
Also citing himself as an example he said, “when I left Cocoa board someone else was appointed and that is what it is and has always been. If you are a minister today, tomorrow you may not be a minister and if another political party comes to power they will not even look at you”.
His advice to all politicians was, “ I think politics should make us very humble and we should grasp that opportunity to serve our people and our country”.
