Haruna Babaginda is a trained professional broadcaster with Y97.9Fm, starting off in 2009 with Diamond Fm in Tamale (the first private radio station in Tamale).
To challenge himself, he moved from that comfort zone of the station ran by his cousin at the time (Diamond Fm) to Takoradi’s Melody Fm. He joined Melody Fm in 2011 after visiting Takoradi for the very first time on assignment and fell in love with the twin city.
After an 8year stint with Melody Fm, he joined the Ocean1 Tv in 2018 and then the Takoradi wing of the YFm in 2019, doing both radio and tv at the same time.
From Takoradi, Haruna Babaginda has gained a lot of national recognition for his works. He is a multiple-time nominee of the Ghana DJ Awards and the Radio and Television Personality Awards (RTP Awards).
He is known on the radio for his current affairs programmes flown on the wings of reggae music. His use of the popular genre to address sociopolitical issues and African history has earned him a lot of admiration over the years, making him a household name. He plays to entertain, inform and educate.
He is passion-driven, and this is evident in the delivery of his programmes. His quest to influence society in the right direction is his prime objective on radio, he says.
