Lunchtime on weekdays doesn’t get any better on radio than #ShoutsOnY. Experience a unique early afternoon Radio showdown in the capital, with Winston Micheals as host and Quarps Hansen as DJ.

All kinds of segments designed to entertain and inform listeners, mixed with great music, have been put together to take anyone listening seamlessly through their lunchtime as the day draws closer to an end from noon onwards!

Winston Micheals is a radio and television presenter, voice-over artist, musician, a sound engineer, and a former footballer.

Winston grew up in Colorado in the United States and temporarily played for the Pride Soccer Club.

In 2012, he returned to Ghana and joined the Liberty Professional Under 20 Team. He later acquired a degree in Psychology from the University of Cape Coast.

After his tertiary education, Winston joined YFM as a sound engineer and voice-over artist. He then began his radio career as the host of Y Top 20 Countdown with Mz Orstin.

Winston Micheals proceeded to host YFM’s weekend breakfast show WakeNBake as well as its special 3-Day Weekend show The360onY.

Currently, he hosts Shouts On Y every Monday to Friday from 12PM to 3PM. He doubles as the host and co-creator of Ghana’s first Korean Pop show Pop Central as well as YFM’s web show “The HotSeat On Y.”

As a presenter, Winston has interviewed a lot of Ghanaian celebrities including Manifest,  Darko Vibes, Becca, and Lord Paper.

He has also interviewed international superstars such as Teni, Sam Okyere, Trevor Jackson, Jacob Latimore, Ladipoe, and Donae’O.

Winston recently launched his TV career as the host of ETV’s new countdown show, the Hot 20 Countdown, which airs every Saturday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

As a musician, Winston is known for songs such as Tequila Body, Deja Vu, and Abrantie The Gentleman.


DISC JOCKEY: Quarps Hansen (@quarpshansen)

Born Nii Quarcoopome Hansen-Sackey, Quarps Hansen is the official DJ on YFM’s lunchtime show Shouts on Y and a graduate of the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

He joined Y FM Ghana in 2011 as the producer and presenter of Y Sports and subsequently became the producer of YFM’s morning show “Ryse N Shyne”.
Quarps’ journey to disc jockeying began during his times as Ryse and Shyne producer. From playing on Ryse when the need arose, Quarps was made the DJ of the Afropolitan Mix which aired between 12 noon and 3 pm on weekdays.
With the arrival of the All-New YFM, Quarps Hansen’s versatility saw him drafted to the Y Lounge.
After a great show of professionalism and creativity, Quarps Hansen was chosen as the official Shouts on Y DJ with Winston Micheals from Monday to Friday between 12 noon and 3 pm.
Quarps tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Eunice Asantewaa Asante in December 2017.

He is very driven by music from all over the world, passionate about the positive impact music can keep having on humanity, the great opportunities that music brings, and the showcase of different cultures and backgrounds through music. He dreams of becoming a worldwide music ambassador, and he’s working towards that. In the future, Ian Priceless looks to become a Music Culture Curator & Consultant, a taste he’s acquired after working with/for some of the biggest artists from the African continent in the last two decades.

A product of Radio Broadcast Development Foundation – Academy for Radio Broadcasting, who is swept off his feet by the worldwide urban music landscape, he is currently making moves with YFM Accra (Y107.9FM).
