Mario Balotelli says his relationship with Brendan Rodgers was ‘a disaster’ and ‘the biggest disappointment’ of any coach he has worked under.
Balotelli was frozen out at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, but despite claiming the current Anfield boss should have given him more time, he says the man who sold him to Nice was not his worst boss.
That title he insists belongs to Rodgers, who signed him for £16million in 2014, but under whom the Italian managed just one Premier League goal.
‘The worst?’ Balotelli said in response to a question from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
‘Not Klopp, I am not angry with him. If he has created a certain situation at Liverpool, maybe he should have had more patience with me.
‘In truth, I had the biggest disappointment with Rodgers. I enjoyed myself with him in training but our relationship was a disaster.’
