Black stars captain, Jordan Ayew, has indicated that he believes that the present team can meet the challenge in the 2026 FIFA world cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Ghana have been invited in Group L of the tournament. They will be facing England, Panama and Croatia.
Following an excellent performance in the qualifiers, where they won five games and drew the other one in their last six matches, Ayew is optimistic that the essential group of players who have won them the qualifiers are prepared to take the country to the world stage.
“In my opinion, those players who participated in the qualifiers have performed extremely well. I do not believe we have to add anything. In my opinion, we have a good team and with time, we are getting better. He has not had time to train much together but the cohesion is improving and all is becoming better”, he said in an interview with Adom FM.
Ayew also indicated that it might not be the time to make significant changes to the squad, but he said he would leave this matter in the hands of the technical staff.
“I do not believe that it is the appropriate moment to change anything. However, frankly speaking, technically, the coach will know who to include or to choose. Whoever comes in has to be willing to put their best foot forward and put on a show”, he said.
Ghana will play Panama as the first game in the competition in Canada, Toronto, and face England and Croatia.
