Winston Michaels is 'The Voice'

He is one of those guys you know will define the media landscape in the near future. His shows on YFM (107.9) have already earned him a cult following. Winston’s knowledge of music and sports put him in a league of his own as he continues to entertain the numerous people that tune in just to listen to him. Lets get familiar.
1. How did you get into your line of work?
I Was A Voiceover Artist Who Got Discovered By Eddy Blay For A Shot At Being A Radio Presenter. Based On How Good My Voice Sounded In Radio/TV Jingles, I Was Given A Chance To Send In A Show Demo By Eddy Blay & What I Sent Was Later Reviewed & Then Approved Thus I Was Given My First Show To Host Called The #YTop20Countdown & Thats How I Got To Be The Radio Presenter I Am Today.
2. What has been your biggest challenge?
I Would Say, Branding Has Been My Biggest Challenge, In Radio, You’re Always Heard But Never Seen, So Although People Know My Name, There Is No Face To Place To The Voice. I’m Now Learning To Get Into Social Media To Properly Brand Myself As A Presenter & That in Itself Has Been A Challenge.
3. With so much competition around, how do you manage to stay on top of your game?
When I Was Given My Break, My Boss Eddy Blay Gave Me Some Simple Advice That Has Been A Game Changer For Me, He Said “Keep Your Head Down, Always Plan Ahead & Know What You’re About To Do Before You Do It” This Has Always Stuck With Me & Been My Main Motivation. I Always Plan Ahead & Try To Be A Trailblazer & Do What Others Wouldn’t Dare To Do & I Think This Is What Has Made Me Stand Out Among Many.
4. What’s the best thing about your job?
Radio Is Fun Work, When You Having Fun & Loving What You Do It’s Never Work. I’m A Creative Person & Get To Use Radio To Express My Creativity! Thats The Best Thing In The World!
5. What don’t you like about it?
How Petty Some People In Radio Can Be, It All Feels Like A Game Of Chess Sometimes, When You Make A Major Move, Some People Aren’t So Happy & Try To Create Pitfalls For You. It’s A Crazy World, Regardless Though We Rise Above!
 
6. What is the secret to being a good presenter?
Honestly just Be Yourself, Plan Ahead & Be Creative, If You Aren’t Enjoying What You Do, People Will Feel It & Tune Off.
7. What are your plans for the future?
I Want To Be One Of The Very Best At My Craft, I Wanna Be The Go To Presenter Everybody Wants To Go To For Their Interviews, Music, Entertainment, The Whole 9 Yards! I wanna Be A Top Shatta Fa Sho!

I Do 3 Shows As Of Now:

Wake N Bake : Which Airs On Saturday Morning From 6am – 9am Is A Show I Do With My Lovely Co-Host LJ & The Legendary Dj Snoop & It’s A Breakfast Show On The Weekend That Models That Of The World Famous “The Breakfast Club” Where We Bring You Dope Music, Mind Blowing Content & Conversation, with Interviews & Giveaways Like No Other! We Rock Your Morning With Laughter, Feels & Thrills as We Get You Up & About and Ready To Take On Your Saturday.
Pop Central : Which Airs On Sunday’s From 4pm – 5 Pm Is A Show I Do With Super Producer Ella Okuwendia & Big Kris Dj & Is A Trailblazing Show That Has Even Gotten The Attention Of The BBC via Recommendation From Joel Orleans! It Is A First Of It’s Kind Where We Play Pop Music From All Over The World For The Whole Hour & That Includes A 30 Minute Kpop Segment Which Put Us On The Map As A Trailblazer! 9. What advice would you give to young people that want to get on radio?
Dare To Prove People Wrong! Work 5x harder than the best man, put in the hours of sweat, blood and tears, and watch the results put u where u deserve to be.
