Over 800 submissions from across Ghana have been received so far as entries for the most anticipated rap reality show, “Rapture”.
Few weeks after the call for entry was announced, tons of ambitious and gifted rappers across the country downloaded and jumped on the slick “Rapture” beat in a bid to secure their places and earn the crown of “Rapture King”. After this lot of feedback from rap fanatics requested an extension of the registration deadline to allow them to send their entries.
‘Rapture’ which is beautifully and creatively coined from source words Rap + Culture and Future is being driven by Ghana’s trendiest radio brand, Y107.9FM and seeks to keep the rap culture alive.
With entries closed after a month, Programmes Manager for YFM, Accra, Eddy Blay Jr. advised interested rappers to hold on tight as the next phase of rapture promises to be exciting. “Now, the board will review the entries for the preliminary auditions and link up with rappers who make the cut. After a few are selected, they would be outdoored during our live sessions and the final list made for the games will begin and the competition will get intense.”
The ultimate winner of “Rapture” will receive a Ghc 50,000 digital distribution deal from Crux Global, take home a cash prize of Ghc10,000, live the ultimate dream of any Hip-Hop artiste by working with the ‘sickest’ sound engineers in the country. Rapture is sponsored by Rich Energy Drink.
