WomensDayOnGMABC: You don’t have to be outspoken to be a leader-Snr. Journalist to women

March 8, 2021
in News

Seasoned Senior Journalist, Mildred Siabi-Mensah, has encouraged women to dwell on what they can contribute to the good of society rather than how others view them in society.

According to her, the true essence of leadership is what you contribute to society rather than the image people expect of you as a leader.
Speaking to Y97.9FM’s Chelsy Sey on the special IWD edition of the ‘Ryse N Shyne’ show, she stated: “You don’t need to be outspoken before you serve your society. Look at Former President Atta Mills. Was he vociferous before he became the President? No. But he was someone of a good repute and he served his country well and we can all attest to that. So you don’t have to be outspoken. It is up to what talents and deeds you possess and what you can offer to your people”.
She believed that women have so many potentials that have not been tapped and as such it is up to women to unleash these potentials.
Sharing her experience of being a presidential aspirant for the Western Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), she shared that even though there may have been some intimidations, she was able to resist it.
She says of the power that women have: “If the men can do it we can equally do it because we are all created in the image of God. God has given us the potential”
Mildred Mensah-Siabi is a well known Senior Journalist who has done an extensive work in the media from 2005 to date.
Among many positions she has held in the media space, she was the former treasurer of the Western Regional branch of GJA.
On the 8th of March every year the world celebrate the tremendous efforts by women and girls in shaping a more equal future.
GMABC joins the globe to mark the 2021 IWD with theme, ‘Women In Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world
