This will be replicated on shows like ‘Nsem Pii’, a religious and social issues-based programme which airs on Happy FM between 11:00am to 1:00pm. The Tabitha Kum hitmaker, Nicholas Omane Acheampong will sit in for the sensational host of the show, Ps. Nyansa Boakwa
‘Epahoadaben’ will also miss the regular host Don Kwabena Prah (The Don) as he will be replaced by another versatile voice already known to fans of the hottest political show on radio, Sefah Danquah who will host labour unions among others.
Speaking about the significance of the May Day programming, Timothy Karikari, Director of GMABC said: ‘’The May Day programming is to celebrate Ghana’s labour force and also give them the opportunity to share their challenges. Hence if you look at the guest line-up, it’s made up of labour associations and professionals. These are the people who day in and day out put Ghana on the map in their respective industries, they have to tell their stories and we have to celebrate them.’’
During the era of industrialisation, US industrialists exploited the working class by making them work 15 hours a day. It was only on May 1, 1886, that the labour class came together and revolted against this unjust system and asked for paid leaves, good wages and proper breaks. This is the reason why May Day is celebrated every year.
