Promising Ghanaian rapper, Thorsten Owusu Gyimah, known by stage name Yaw Tog, has disclosed that he knew his song, ‘Sore’ was a hit immediately after recording it.

The ‘Sore’ jam became a hit on all music platforms and even won him awards including the prestigious hip pop song of the Year at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), beating popular rappers like Medikal, Kofi Jamar, Bosom P- Yung, Eno Barony and Kwasi Arthur.

Speaking on Y97.9FM’s ‘Dryve of your lyfe’ with Nana Quasi-Wusu (PM), he mentioned, “I felt ‘Sore’ would be a hit song, after recording it. I felt this song will blow.”

When asked how he felt when his name appeared in international magazines and platforms as a young artiste rising, he replied, “I felt it was time and favor, and it was really my time. Also, it is by the grace of God.”

Talking about the ‘Sore’ remix, which featured UK based rapper Stormzy and Kwasi Arthur, the young rapper mentioned that it was his decision to feature any artistes he wanted on the remix, and therefore did not feature the Asakaa boys who were on the original song.
“They were on the original song so I chose not to bring them on the remix. After everything, I’m cool with the Asakaa boys and we vibe together.”

Yaw Tog is a Ghanaian teen rapper who majors in drill song known as Asakaa in Ghana. He is best known for his ‘Sore’ song featuring O’Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie and Jay Bahd, and also Kwasi Arthur and Stormzy on the remix.
