Two-time Grammy Award nominee, Rocky Dawuni has finally let the cat out of the bag. The sensational Reggae act has finally shown his colleague artistes how to materialize their Grammy dream.
Speaking on Y 97.9 FM with Haruna Babangida during the ‘Reggae Republique’ show, Rocky Dawuni disclosed what his colleague artistes in Ghana are to do to be recognized globally and by the prestigious Grammy awards academy.
“I don’t think it’s a matter of me contrasting myself to other artistes as to what I am doing and the rest are not doing, I only know of my story. As I have reiterated a lot of times, it’s putting in a lot of work and being focused on your craft. You have to invest in your creativity and write good songs and also assemble a good team to help you promote your music around the globe and you will create the recognition that is required for it.”
“So, these are the things that can put your music out there. but the music has to be fresh, it has to appeal to the inquisitive nerve of the listeners and that comes from being able to push the boundaries of your style,” he said.
Surprisingly, this advice from Rocky Dawuni came after ‘Rufftown record’ signee and ‘Astalavista’ hitmaker Wendy Shay went on her Twitter page to say that legendary Rocky Dawuni made it to the Grammys through the back door and pleaded with him to ‘Show’ other Ghanaian artists the way to the Grammys.
She, however, received backlash from many people on Twitter and some entertainment pundits who described her comment as disrespectful.
