#AFCONonY: Kurt's attitude and abysmal Black Stars performance infuriating to Ghanaians - Mickey Charles

Techiman City President, Charles Kwadwo Ntim, popularly known as ‘Mikey Charles’, says the response from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss, Kurt Okraku on the terrible performance of the Black Stars is provocative.

Ghana exited from the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon after losing to debutants Comoros. The worse of the campaign was the fact that the country failed to record a single win in the competition, the first time in the history of Ghana.

During an interview after Ghana exited the competition, the GFA boss claimed the squad was the best crop of players the country had. However, Mickey Charles disagreed to the President’s claims.

He opined that Kurt failed to follow the acceptable procedures to give account for the Black Stars AFCON campaign.

“I heard the FA president saying this team was the best we have. The people advising Kurt are really doing him a disservice. What is more painful is that before he was summoned by the sector ministry, he went ahead to grant interviews on TV and radio stations. We could clearly see him advertising his arrogance and pride to the whole of Ghana. The reasonable thing was for him to go and give account to the presidency first before he could go publicly to do what he did. Every time the Black Stars travelled, there was always a report submitted to the EXCO to indicate what went on during the process. Meanwhile the Minister wrote to you that he would meet you so what is the essence of making noise?” he asked Ohene Bampoe Brenya on Happy98.9 FM’s Happy Sports show.

He suggested the current GFA boss should have sought the guidance of previous administration and management members of the association since they witnessed the country come close to glory.

Meanwhile, after such unacceptable outing by the Stars, the football handlers have been heated to address the root concerns of the sport. Most have called for the dismissal of head coach, Milovan Rajevac after three months in charge, while others also believe Kurt Okraku needs to step down.
