Award-winning Fante singer and songwriter, Kofi Kinaata, believes that the referee awarding Ghanaian Black Stars captain, Dede Ayew a red card in the team’s last match against Comoros was too harsh a move on the player.

From the way he sees it, Dede Ayew’s incident with the Comoros keeper was merely a mistake and should not have warranted so much as a red card. According to him, Dede Ayew should have at least been given a yellow card instead of red.

“Both teams were fighting for the ball so Dede only slid to kick the ball and he accidentally kicked the keeper. He should have been given a yellow card and not a red card for that”, he said during an interview with Happy FM’s Joe Debrah on Wamputu Sports.

Kofi Kinaata admitted that the team put up a very poor performance on the field during the first two matches, however, he says they cannot be blamed totally for their loss to Comoros because clearly, they stepped up their game during the third regardless of Comoros being an underrated team.

Talking about why he thinks the Black Stars should not take full blame for the defeat, the singer said, “You could see that the boys were really desperate in the last match. Also, they underrated the Comoros team. They knew they needed points but they didn’t expect that Comoros would put up such a tough game”.

Again, he added that the Ghanaian team was in a position to score since they needed more points, and not just to defend what they already had, hence, they were in a tough spot already, and the red card on their captain also made things worse.
