Naa Dzama Sowah, The Voice Goddess and host of Y107.9FM’s Shouts on Y Radio Show, has successfully carried out her donation to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital’s Pediatric Oncology Unit as promised.
The donation exercise which was slated for Mother’s Day, the 8th of May, 2022, saw Naa Dzama and her Purple Angels Foundation visiting the young cancer warriors at the Korlebu Oncology unit as early as 11:15am, where she was met by the nurse in charge and her team at the pediatric oncology unit.
She gifted each of the kids in the ward with care packages that included towels, shower gels, sponges, books, water bottles, crayons and pencils, toys, antibacterial wipes, bowls and cutlery sets, disinfectants, toilet rolls among many other essentials.
To further encourage them and prove to them that they are champions for fighting and not giving in to cancer, Naa Dzama put a gold medal around the necks of each child, which got them even more excited, and she spent some more time playing, chatting and sharing stories with them.
Describing her experience at the end of it all, Naa Dzama said, “the nurse in charge and her team were honestly very sweet and welcoming. I first went to the Day care unit which temporarily houses some pediatric oncology patients who come by to receive treatments and return home, and then went up to the third floor, to the ward that houses those on admission. The youngest patient wasn’t even a year old and the oldest was fourteen. I went round to each kid and personally handed over a beautiful wrapped and decorated care package. I sat with each child for about 5 minutes just chatting and making them laugh and I must say, it was an amazing experience. I’m very glad that I didn’t choose any other way to celebrate Mother’s Day than to be a mother figure to this warriors and put smiles on their faces”.
She also went ahead to show her appreciation to the people who supported the cause and helped to make it all a reality. She thanked Mr. Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo, the CEO of Jadarls Group of Companies, Joy Industries and Hair Excellency for their support, as well as Y-Care and YFM.
Finally, Naa Dzama gave a little brief about the Purple Angels Foundation’s upcoming project, ‘Make A Wish’. “We are immediately commencing our next project, ‘Make a wish’, an initiative that grants any wish of kids with life threatening diseases. The aim is show them that anything is possible, that they can survive whatever disease it is they are battling. We already have two 12 year olds whose wishes we’re going to grant and we are also organizing a movie night for the children with cancer housed in a hostel facility for the child care unit at korle bu teaching hospital”.
She urged interested persons who still wish to send in their donations to do so as there are still many good works in the pipeline waiting to be executed.
