British-born Ghanaian decent Marco Lowrey has shared his inspiration for switching from hip-pop and RNB genres to the world record-breaking and famous afro-beats genre.
Stating, he mentioned that his colleagues of similar decent in the diaspora who were pursuing music and producing afro-beat songs inspired as well as his roots as African from Ghana.
“I have always had in me to do afro-beats and I was inspired by sounds that were coming out of the continent and some Africans living in the UK as well. We have big afro-beats bigwigs who started the movement over there, like Fuse ODG and Maleek Berry and that inspired me since I am African too”.
In addition, Marco Lowrey mentioned some Ghanaian music legends whom he listened to and inspired him to pursue music as his future career, however, the greatest of them all to him was “Thriller” hitmaker Michael Jackson.
“Growing up, a lot of Ghanaian legends inspired me, people like Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi. I was inspired by them so much and I used to watch them often when I was a kid in the UK, but my biggest influence was Michael Jackson because I wanted to be like him”.
Marco Lowrey made these statements in a recent interview on Y 107.9 FM during the ‘Dryve of your Lyfe’ show with Kokonsa Kester. He is currently in Ghana and on tour to promote his newest single ‘Money Motivation 2.0’.
