The Y Army team of Ghana’s top urban radio station, Y97.9FM Takoradi, a subsidiary of YFM Triangle as part of its annual charity project has donated 300 blocks to Remar Children’s Home in Kajebil, Takoradi.
The second edition of Y Army Takoradi’s charity presentation also had a number of Y Army T-shirts donated to the children and staff members of the Remar Children’s Home.
The team lead of the Y Army Takoradi, General Emmanuel Kwame Dogbey, indicated that the initiative that took place on Saturday, August 6, 2022, comes in handy as an urgent call to assist the resident care home put up their building and facility as they currently reside in a rented structure.
According to him, the station was impressed with the good works of Remar Children’s Home, rendering care and support to deprived children in the community hence, saw the need to help the institution erect its own home.
“This donation is in line with what we stand for as a company not just for business purposes but, representing the community and bringing shine to young people within our stretch. We’ve noticed how important Remar have been over the last couple of years. They have done an impressive job with the limited resources they have. So, having a building on their own where they can conduct their activities and continue to help these young ones is very important and has been long overdue. After the construction they will no longer need to go through the hassle to secure rent for their current facility,” he shared.
Programmes Manager of Y97.9FM, Agyekum Gyimah, on his part commended the team for this initiative when he stated, “We are proud of the Y Army Takoradi team for taking up this initiative. This whole initiative started last year and was a good one, and this year they continue to lit spark in the region. We hope that this action on their part will continue to impact the lives of others in our community. We are largely known noted to inspire the youth and these are the few things we do on our path to help them live to their expectations.”
The team crowned the day with a monetary donation to Susana Riverson, a wife and mother of two who is currently suffering from Graves’ disease (Basedow’s disease) to undergo surgery.
