Ghanaian songwriter and recording artiste Cina Soul, has shared how her musical journey began in school and grew stronger when she completed.
“My music career began in school but got firm and strong after I had completed and put in much effort in to building it”
Known in real life as Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome, Cina Soul, in an interview with NY DJ on YFM Kumasi says her time on music reality show, ‘Vodafone Icons’ played a major role in her budding music career.
According to her, she may not have won the 2014 edition of Vodafone Icons but the reality show gave her an identity as a force to reckon with in the entertainment industry.
“Going for a reality show developed me as an artist. Vodafone Icons helped develop me as an artist, I am Cina Soul because of my time on Vodafone Icons, I may not have won but being on the show gave me an identity. I know a lot of people out there have faith and believe in me so I have to make everyone proud by giving it my all.”
She also considers herself a versatile artist and would always think outside the box.
“So the thing about me is, I’ve always considered myself to be a very versatile artist. From the very first EP, all five to six songs on are completely different and I’ve never wanted to box myself”, she reiterated.
According to her , she’s not only limited to only one genre of music, she wants to explore in different genres because she feels she has a lot to give to the world.
“What ever sound that comes to me in the studio, that’s what comes out be it highlife, Afro beat, or Afro-pop”.
As a musician, songwriter and a recording artist, events and happenings around her makes up the lyrics and content in her music. Other times too, the beats informs what she writes or sing about, and even though she’s into Afro beat, Afro-pop and highlife, she finds joy listening other genres of music when alone such as dancehall, reggae, rap and hip-pop.
Cina Soul has released a new hit single which features Camidoh titled “Waiting”.
