Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Glitz Africa Magazine, Claudia Lumor, has stimulated persons with the means to invest in the local fashion scene to up their appreciation for the sector.
She argues with the support of corporate Ghana, the fashion industry will see immense growth.
Claudia shared the fashion industry is the 2nd highest employer globally and believes it is time for more investments to made into the sector.
“I still believe the people who can invest into the fashion industry are not people who appreciate fashion. They can appreciate music and comedy but not fashion and that’s sad. Fashion is the 2nd largest employer globally and also brings in a lot of revenue. Everyone wears clothes, shoes and uses beauty products and it is a shame the fashion industry is not seen as a sector to invest in,” she told host of the Myd Morning Radio Show, Rev Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series.
Claudia hopes the narrative will soon change with the business community investing more in the fashion space.
“The investment companies abroad are responsible for all the Gucci’s, Versace’s and all other named brands we have. Investors need to put money into all the young Gucci’s and Versace’s we have in Ghana,“ she added.
Having engaged government and policy makers, Claudia is optimistic funding will soon be provided for the fashion industry for its growth.
