The Executive Head, in charge of Content & West Africa Channels, MultiChoice Group, Dr. Kofi Busola Tejumola has named Ghana as the next border to tell it’s stories, through movies, to the world.
According to her, Kumawood already has the right stories the world is waiting for, what is left is for the movies to go global.
Addressing movies makers & other stakeholders in the Kumawood film industry at the ‘Akwaaba Magic Creative Industry Seminar on Monday, Dr. Busola disclosed that DStv, GOtv channels are here to help breakdown obstacles hindering the Kumawood film industry’s progress.
Dr. Busola mentioned that Ghana is the next border with the potential to penetrate the world with our stories. She said, “Kumawood already has the right stories. I believe the next world frontier of story-telling is going to come from Ghana.”
She mentioned that no one can tell the story better than Kumawood industry players themselves.
Speaking on the strategies they have in the pipeline, Mr. Kennedy Dankyi-Appah, who is the Channel Head, Akwaaba Magic, at MultiChoice Ghana Limited, revealled their plans in the upcoming years.”We will commission Twi series to improve & strengthen the Kumawood industry in the new year”, Mr. Dankyi-Appiah disclosed.
He reiterated DStv, GOtv’s readiness to work with the Kumawood industry on any content, be it movie, or series, to help breakdown barriers, share right structures & processes to cushion the market movie globally.
Akwaaba Magic so far has two channels, Akwaaba Magic & Akwaaba Magic Abusua , & still counting, helping to project the movie industey in Ghana to the outside world
