According to his lawyer, D’banj was released from jail by the Nigerian anti-corruption organisation, the ICPC, and he claims to have “no business with fraud.”
After it was discovered that millions of dollars intended to help unemployed youth launch enterprises had gone missing, he was detained earlier this week on fraud-related charges.
“I have assisted the commission with all I know”, D’Banj said on Instagram.
“I am confident in their capacity to unravel the truth,” he continued.

D’banj also mentioned that he had been freed on “self-recognition,” which meant he was free to leave without having to post bail.
However, a representative from the Nigerian ICPC has indicated that investigations are proceeding in the interim.
The musician, whose true name is Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, has asserted that he is the program’s brand ambassador.
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, which is in charge of the N-Power programme, asserted that the artist’s claim to be an ambassador for the programme was false and that it had no formal relationship with him.
In 2016, President Muhammadu Buhari introduced N-Power.
However, a lot of grant recipients have been whining for months about not getting their money.
In a statement on Wednesday, Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency said that “billions of naira” had been misappropriated.
The bureau earlier stated that ten additional people in addition to D’banj are under investigation.
D’banj’s lawyer said it was a “embarrassment to the entire country that such a huge allegation [was made] against a public figure without any evidence”.
