“A nation which does not honour its heroes is not worth fighting for”.
It is in the spirit of this quote that the number one morning radio show in Ghana; ‘Ryse and Shyne’ on the most listened station in the nation YFM honored in tribute, the life of an illustrious daughter of the land, Ms Princilla Opoku Qwarteng popularly known as Ebony, whose demise exactly 5 years ago today; on the 8th of February 2018, left an indelible mark on the whole nation and the world as a whole.
In memoriam of her demise, the ‘Question Of The Day’ being a segment on the 3hour show from 6am – 9am asked fans and listeners what their favorite Ebony song was, and also to recount their fondest memory of her.
It wasn’t surprising to notice the incredible host of the show, Brown Berry being overwhelmed with messages from all social media platforms ranging from Twitter, Instagram Facebook to TikTok and call-ins. Giving a clear indication of just how much she was loved by all.
On recounting their fondest memories of her, it was hard to miss that, her sexiness and stage craft were top on the list from especially her male fans.
Some of the fond memories shared of her created some incredibly calm tension and solemness both on air and in the studio where we got to interview some of her closest allies like OGTheMc who recognises and admits the significant role the beautiful Ebony played in propelling his Mc career as a hype man. He was thankful to her for sharing her gift with Ghanaians and the world at large.
The celebration tribute featured voices from Sarkodie, Efya and a host of Ghanaians.
Indeed Ghana has lost a huge export who will go on in our hearts always and be remembered forever.
Nanaheema Ebony we say “Continue to rest in power”. You came, you saw and you conquered. Forever in our hearts.
