Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has disclosed that all negative remarks made concerning him and his craft today are as a result of his great achievements.

The globally recognized rapper in an interview on Y107.9FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe with host, Kojo Manuel indicated that he was aware of certain negative feedbacks that were getting to him especially on his recent refix of Bob Marley x The Wailers ‘Stir It Up’.

“I know that was how it was going to be; it’s all phases; it’s the shock factor, which I don’t blame the people for because even me who was chosen, I was shocked; I will not blame the people for being shocked and trying to find if this is real.”

The rap Landlord stated that negative reactions that emerge concerning his craft used to bother him but he now appreciates it because he believed that they come about as the result of how far he has come as an industry player and what he has been able to attain.

He further added that the reactions remind him of who he is. “I think it’s the height of where I’ve been and the weight of who I am brings this reaction. I love it; at first, I had an issue with it because I’m like why do you always have to have this type of energy but it’s because of who you are and if you didn’t have that then you have actually lost it.” He highlighted.

The ‘Labadi’ hitmaker further added that based on his experience and observation, the reaction of people to his works are in three phases, which are the shock phase, criticizing it, and finally appreciating the music in the moment and revealed that he had to be patient enough to wait for the wave of distraction at the beginning to pass by.

He also mentioned that ‘Stir It Up’ which had stirred a lot of commotion and mixed energy is thriving and gaining more views and streams.

“If you don’t have that reaction, people intense about it, whether they like it or not being intense about it is very important so you don’t want to lose that; I enjoyed it, in was in three phases, the shock, criticizing it and now appreciating the moment so they are just going to breathe a little bit; I think now the energy is more about them appreciating it; I think so far its being accepted good.” He expounded.
