Ace Ghanaian broadcast journalist and Executive Director of Crime Check Foundation (CCF), Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, has revealed how often Christian gave back to society, a side of the Ghanaian player many never knew about.
Christian Atsu was found deceased under the rubble following the devastating earthquake that occurred two weeks ago, according to a tweet by Turkey-based football agent Murat Uzunmehmet on Saturday morning.
The forward had been trapped for 11 days before being found to have passed away.
Ibrahim Oppong Kwateng in an interview on Y 97.9 [Takoradi] on Reggae Republic hosted by Haruna Babangida recounted how difficult life was for Christian Atsu growing up and why his humble beginnings influenced his giving back to society.
“Atsu was a philanthropist, he Consistently devoted his life to the welfare of the poor, needy, and the voiceless, we started a project four years ago where we have released thousands of prisoners and not just released them but also integrate them into society and all that was Christian Atsu because he dared that was his belief” he revealed.
“I have a very close relationship with Atsu, personal and corporate as well and he is more than a brother to me. If Christian Atsu tells you about his life story, you would weep. His parents were very poor, and as a young man, he had nowhere to sleep” he added.
The media personality also added,” His love for football was what pushed him in being optimistic that it would one-day yield results and it did”.
Crime Check Foundation (CCF) is a crime prevention advocacy organization that promotes the rights of prisoners, supports marginalized and underprivileged persons as well as uses life-in-prison documentaries to sensitize the public to the dangers of crime.
